Hi friends ; My name is Pelin Kabakcı.You know that I come from Ankara, the capital city of Turkey. I’m 17 years old and that’s my last year in a high school. Now I want to tell you about education system of my country. In Turkey there are 8 years compulsary education. Education is divided into three parts; primary school, high school and university. Until we start a university, we have to wear school uniforms but in the university, we can wear whatever we want like casual clothes. In primary schools, we learn basic subject of our curriculum in eight years. And then we go on high school which lasts four years. Education in Turkey is free and most children go to state schools. But some parents send their children to private schools. These are comprehensive schools which offer general education to children according to their abilities. For instance; we choose math-science class, literature-math class or language class according to our abilities. And there also fıne-art schools.
According to our class we study literature,
history, geography, English ,German, art physical education, philosophy,
math, science…These lectures prepare us for the university exam which is
called OSS in Turkey.
