THE BEST JOURNEY I’VE EVER HAD

At last the day that i was waiting for about a mounth came and i was in Luxembourg. All my excitement disappeared when i saw my partner, Annick. Her family and she was very kind towards me, and they helped me to feel myself at home. So as you see, the first night was very nice for me. The following day, we went to school with school bus. Every country had presentations of their school, city and country. After presentations and having lunch, we had a tour in Wiltz, the city where their school (Lycee du Nord) is. The views were wonderful like everywhere in Luxembourg. We saw their important buildings, monuments, church and a beer factory. The students were presenting these to us and this is the idea which i liked most.

On Thursday, we went to Bastogne to see a museum about second world war. It was a nice museum but i think the most important event of the day was leaving for Viandan. The castle was very fascinating, especially the scenery from there. We liked there a lot and took lots of photos.

On Friday, we were working on jingles and songs in the Radio Station, Radio LNW. Recording them was very enjoyable. After lunch, we went to Lultzhausen to do wall climbing. It was a funny experienceJ I didn’t do well but tried to do my best to climb the wall. When we were back in Wiltz, we had to go to the youth hostel, because in the last two days, we would stay there with all students. After finding our rooms in the hostel, we left for The City Hall. There was a little reception there and after that, we went to school for The Scottish Evening. We enjoyed a lot and when we went back to youth hostel, there was an another party waiting for us. So it was a nice night.

On Saturday, unfortunately our last day, we went to Luxembourg city to visit a museum, a castle and do some shopping. Everything was wonderful but a bit sad because of the fact that we had to go back to turkey on Monday. That night, we had a closing party with our partners families. We sad “eddi” (good byeJ) to everybody and left for the big party in a concert hall. At first we were sleepy because of the time (12.00 am) but when we started to enjoy with the music, we forgot our sleeplessness. After the unforgettable party, we were in the hostel at about 4.30 am. And on Monday, we said goodbye to our friends ( the most upsetting time of the journey i think) and then started to wait for our plane.

So, the days i spent in Luxembourg can’t be explained by words. I enjoyed every minute and liked all the students and teachers there. We promised to go back one day. Even if i cant go back, i will never forget those days. It was the best journey in my life.

Meeting Programme in Luxembourg March 6 – 11, 2007

Tuesday, 6^th March: arrival of the delegations:

Students The host parents are coming to Wiltz in order to collect the students they are accommodating.

Teachers: will have the possibility to dine in a local restaurant

Wednesday, 7^th March: School starts at 7:55 in Wiltz!

presentation of the delegations, very short presentation of the participating schools and regions by the students - in English or in French

The students from Wiltz will present our school, our city and our country in English and French.

09:30: Official photo session
09:45: Coffee –break
09:55: Possibility to attend classes
10:45: Guided tour of the school organized by our students
12:30: Lunch in the school restaurant
13:30: Guided walking tour through Wiltz
16:00: Radio LNW: first interviews with our visitors about their impressions
18:00: The students go home by bus, the teachers will have a break to rest or freshen up
20:00: The teachers will have dinner in a local restaurant

Thursday, 8^th March:

07:55: Students and teachers are meeting in the school radio to make some Comenius Jingles for ex. saying hello in all the different languages, …
10:00: The group is leaving for Bastogne (2^nd World War: the Battle of the Bulge)

Lunch in Bastogne or school restaurant in Wiltz

13:30: The group is leaving for Vianden: There will be various visits of the castle, the Victor Hugo Museum, …
18:30: We are going to be back in Wiltz: there will be a break for the teachers, students will go back home to the host families
20:00: The teachers are having dinner in local restaurant

Friday, 9^th March:

07:55: Students are meeting in the school radio and working on songs.

Each delegation will bring along a popular (pop) song in their national language performed by a national group which they will have recorded. The students will read the lyrics in their national language and summarize the lyrics in English or/and in French . As an introduction, they can speak about their musical preferences, about where and how they listen to music, if and where they attend concerts.. 10:00: Teachers are discussing about what has been done so far, about the further policies of our group, about the Comenius forum and chatroom, the host country in 2008, the European Curriculum and more.

12:30: lunch at the school restaurant
13:30: The group is leaving for Lultzhausen, where they are going to do some wall climbing for all those who want to have a go at it. Then we are going to walk through Esch sur Sûre (touristic visit),
17:00: We will go back to Wiltz. The students are going to the youth hostel, and the teachers will be able to get a break in the hotel
18:00: Reception in the City Hall: both students and teachers are invited to take part
19:00: The students will go back to the youth hostel where they can have dinner and go to the local cinema, if they want
19:00:The teachers are having an official dinner in the hotel

Saturday:
09:00: The group is meeting at the train station in Wiltz
09:07: Everyone is leaving by train for Luxembourg -Guided visit through our Capital, there will be some opportunity for shopping…
17:30: The group is meeting at train station in Luxembourg City
17:50: Everyone is leaving by train for Wiltz
20:00: Closing party with the host parents
