TURKEY’S FOUNDER COMMEMORATED ACROSS TURKEY

Great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the modern Turkish Republic was commemorated on the 10 th of november,on the 67 th anniversary of his death with a series of ceremonies across the country. The first ceremony in Ankara, started at Atatürk mausoleum , where state officials led by the President laid a wreath at the mausoleum at 9:05 am, the exact time Atatürk passed away in 1938. Those in attendance observed one minute of silence. The mausoleum was opened to the public following the state ceremony. The President Sezer spoke a fter the premier and said Atatürk thoughts, principes and reforms would continue to illuminate turkey’s path.

STUDENTS CLASH WITH POLICE

Students armed with sticks and stones clashed with riot police, protesting against what they see as excessive state control of Turkish universities. At least one person, a protestor was injured. The security forces used tear gaz to disperse the crowd.

Turkish shoemaker Lahit Okular tries to get back his GuinnessWorld recordfor the largest shoe. He is making a shoe measuring 6,10 meters in lenght and 2 meters in height by using leather about 30 cows.

LE MANS ENDURANCE SERIES TAKES PLACE IN ISTANBUL

Emmanuel Collard and Jean-christophe Boullion won the fifth and the final race of 2005 Le Mans Endurance Series in Istanbul.
